The Exhibit Specialist maintains and enhances exhibit technology at the Orlando Science Center, with a 60/40 focus on supporting existing exhibits (troubleshooting, repairs, documentation) and developing new interactive components. The role requires expertise in computer, mechanical, and soldering work, plus proficiency in electronics, A/V, and PC systems. The specialist also supports the setup and upkeep of temporary exhibits year-round.  Essential Functions * Demonstrates expertise in software and hardware computer systems including Windows (XP – 11), OS X (v10.3 – 10.15), Linux. * Solder and board level system diagnostics is a must * Knowledge of the principles, methods, and equipment used in development and programming of microcontrollers, PC’s, show controllers and audio/video equipment, along with working knowledge of various programming languages such as Python, Arduino and BrightSign.  * Provide Solutions to chronic or systemic technology defects in individual exhibits which reduces their efficiency and reliability or compromise the intended function.  * Assists with the development of new exhibits & grant projects by making recommendations for the safe, efficient, and effective use of technology. * Document all wiring diagrams, code and electronic components utilized in new exhibits. * Support various AV, Projector and DMX setups throughout the science center.  * Ability to read complex wiring diagrams * Demonstrates initiative to work without direct supervision. * Performs other related duties as assigned.    Minimum Qualifications  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Experience: 5 years relevant work experience. 3. Certifications: N/A  Preferred Qualifications * Effective oral and written communication skills. * Good working knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot computer, electronic, mechanical, and audio/video systems as necessary.  * Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner. * Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.  * Experience with interactive software such as Adobe Air, Flash and Director. * Ability to work in Auto CAD, Sketch Up, or Fusion360. * Proficient in Microsoft Office. * Candidate must be responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks and skilled in the use of a wide variety of hand and power tools.   Supervisory Responsibility N/A  Physical Demands * Moves throughout the museum.    * Ascends/descends stairs throughout the museum.  * Ascends/descends ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks.  * Observes and reacts to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners.  * Communicates and exchanges accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone.  * Operates a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately. * Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. * Understand and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery, alarms, equipment). * Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 50 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level.  * Occasionally works in outdoor environments.  * Frequently works in indoor environments. * Coping with demands and stresses associated with job and work environment. * Kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling - Frequently  * Weight Levels – Lift, Push, Pull  * Up to 50 pounds  Expected Hours of Work & Travel * This position primarily works Monday – Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
