POSITION OVERVIEW:

Surrey Police Service (SPS) has an exciting opportunity for a Temporary, Full Time (Term) Exhibits Officer to join our Court Services Unit, within the Corporate Services Bureau. Currently, the position is scheduled run for up to 12 months (approximately). The duration of the term may be shortened or extended based on operational needs. This position would be responsible for the recording, safekeeping, and movements of exhibits taken into possession by police officers of Surrey Police Service (SPS) and officers of other external agencies.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by several business and computer application courses.
  • Minimum of two years related clerical or warehousing experience in a police environment.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with a safe driving record.
  • All applicants must obtain, and maintain, the required standards of police security clearance throughout employment with SPS.
    This position is unionized represented by CUPE Local 402. The salary range for this position is $31.26/hour to $34.28/hour (pay grade 17B) based on 2024 Rates.

Responsibilities
  • Receives, checks, controls, maintains, and ensures for storage, security, and movement of all exhibits for SPS.
  • Lifts, sorts, arranges, and stores items, as required, and ensures that exhibits are maintained in the condition received.
  • Maintains safe custody of the main exhibit room keys and ensures that all exhibits are safeguarded at all times.
  • Assists in arranging special security for large narcotic seizures and/or exhibits of high monetary value.
  • Assists in packing and shipping of drug exhibits.
  • Keeps up to date with court activity pertaining to exhibits and may give evidence in court on continuity of exhibits.
  • Responds to enquiries from internal and external sources on matters related to the work.
  • Assists in the preparation and maintenance of files, records, ledgers, and reports related to the work.
  • Assists other staff in performing their duties.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
