Miami Children’s Museum is looking for a skilled and curious Exhibits Technician to help maintain, troubleshoot, and bring our interactive exhibits to life—creating unforgettable experiences for children and families every day. This is more than just a technical role—it’s an opportunity to combine creativity, problem-solving, and innovation while supporting exhibits that inspire curiosity, imagination, and discovery through play. Key Responsibilities Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electronic and interactive exhibit components, including sensors, switches, buttons, lighting, audio, screens, and low-voltage systems Diagnose exhibit issues and perform in-house repairs to minimize downtime and improve reliability Support interactive exhibit builds, installations, upgrades, and refreshes Collaborate with carpenters, fabricators, and designers during exhibit development and testing Conduct preventive maintenance and document repairs, recurring issues, and technical solutions Assist with testing and launch of new exhibits and interactive elements Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in both shop and gallery spaces Other duties as assigned Requirements Experience with electronics repair, troubleshooting, or interactive systems in museums, science centers, themed environments, AV, or similar hands-on settings Working knowledge of basic electronics, wiring, sensors, switches, and power supplies Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively Comfortable working in a hands-on, physical environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to visitor safety Preferred / Nice to Have Prior experience repairing or maintaining interactive museum exhibits Familiarity with microcontrollers such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi Ability to read basic schematics or technical documentation Experience working in cultural institutions, children’s museums, or science centers Join a collaborative exhibits team where technology, creativity, and fabrication come together to create meaningful, hands-on experiences!
Responsibilities
The Exhibits Technician will troubleshoot, maintain, and repair electronic and interactive exhibit components to ensure they function properly. They will also support the development and testing of new exhibits while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
