Context IOM Iraq Country Office (CO) works alongside the Government of Iraq (GoI) to promote safe, regular and orderly migration, in addition to its work on protection, peace, recovery durable solutions and stabilization. Since the end of the conflict with the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), IOM has worked closely with the GoI to provide legal assistance to conflict-affected populations, promote housing, land and property rights (HLP), and work towards transitional justice and reparations mechanisms for victims. IOM Iraq CO will continue the support to the GoI on legal assistance and transitional justice in an integrated manner moving forward. Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Coordinator (Peacebuilding and Stabilization), and in close coordination with the Regional Thematic Specialist (RTS) at the Regional Office (RO) for Middle East and North Africa in Cairo and relevant Divisions/Departments /Units at Headquarters (HQ), the Programme Officer (Legal Empowerment and Transitional Justice) will be responsible for managing, coordinating and overseeing the activities of the Legal Empowerment and Transitional Justice Programme in IOM Iraq CO.
Responsibilities
The Programme Officer will manage, coordinate, and oversee the activities of the Legal Empowerment and Transitional Justice Programme in IOM Iraq CO. This includes working closely with the Chief of Mission and Senior Programme Coordinator to support legal assistance and transitional justice initiatives.
