POSITION SUMMARY:

Mother Earth Childcare Centre is seeking a passionate, experienced Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) to take on a Lead Teacher role. The ideal candidate is a patient, nurturing, creative, and dedicated professional who can take the lead of our classroom team and lead curriculum planning in alignment with the How Does Learning Happen? framework and our blended Waldorf/Montessori/Reggio philosophy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE).
  • Minimum 2–3 years of experience working in licensed childcare, in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT, and child development best practices.
  • Knowledge of programming and implementing activities, including those of Waldorf, Reggio or Montessori origin.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • First Aid and CPR-C certification (current)
  • Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months)
  • Up-to-date immunization and TB screening (as required by local health authorities).

Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, curriculum for children with a Waldorf and Montessori focus
  • Lead and mentor a team of assistants in daily routines, documentation, and classroom management/organization.
  • Build responsive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Maintain clear, organized, and timely documentation and child files
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding their child’s progress and development.
  • Lead the team and resolve internal team issues
  • Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), health and safety regulations, and centre policies.
  • Collaborate with centre leadership to support program goals and continuous quality improvement.
