Nearest MTA Bus Stop:   Thompson Lane & Wingate Ave   Internship Information: Format: (In-Person Only)   In Person Positions Available:   25 Technology Used:    ●        Laptops or tablets ●        Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Forms) ●        Presentation equipment ●        Basic medical training tools (CPR mannequins, first aid supplies) Internship Title:  Student Healthcare Worker   Internship Description/Learning Objectives:   The Youth Health Careers Summer Experience provides students with hands-on exposure to healthcare careers through training, certification, leadership development, and community service. Participants will explore healthcare pathways, earn CPR and OSHA-10 certifications, and gain experience delivering health education to younger students. By the end of the internship, students will:   ●        Understand multiple healthcare career pathways ●        Earn CPR and OSHA-10 certifications ●        Develop leadership and public speaking skills ●        Gain experience teaching health-related topics to children ●        Plan and host a community Health Fair ●        Build professional skills including teamwork, communication, and workplace readiness Job Duties:   ●        Participate in CPR and OSHA-10 certification training ●        Attend healthcare-focused workshops and career exploration sessions ●        Learn and practice basic medical terminology and safety procedures ●        Assist in planning and delivering age-appropriate healthcare lessons for younger students at the Boys & Girls Club ●        Collaborate with peers to plan and host a community Health Fair ●        Engage in team meetings, reflections, and leadership activities ●        Follow workplace expectations including attendance, professionalism, and dress code ●        Prepare a brief elevator pitch and resume-ready job description of duties Preferred Competencies:   ●        Interest in healthcare, medicine, or helping professions ●        Willingness to learn and participate actively ●        Strong communication and listening skills ●        Ability to work collaboratively in a team ●        Responsibility and professionalism ●        Comfort workin with younger children and community members ●        Openness to public speaking and leadership opportunities g with younger children and community members     General Information: Work Schedule Days and Hours:   ●Shift 1 (Monday - Friday; 8;00am - 12:00pm) ●Shift 2 (Monday - Friday; 12:00pm - 4:00pm) Dress Code:   Scrubs and closed toed shoes Travel Required:   Minimal local travel may be required for community-based activities such as teaching at the Boys & Girls Club or hosting the Health Fair. June 4th:                          POWER Youth Summit at Sheraton Music City Nashville Airport June 5th – July 17th:       Team Members on site at their agencies on Monday-Friday at the time              scheduled by employer.  You will be scheduled to work 4 hours daily             which equals 20 hours per week. July 13th – July 17th:      POWER Youth Summer Employment Program - End of Summer             Celebration – Team Members can showcase their projects from the             summer.              If you are selected as an Experience Work Team Member, you will make $12.00 an hour and receive a summer program with project-based employment for youth ages 14 -15. Experience Work projects can be focused on the arts, leadership skills or community development. In addition, you will learn “work ready” skills for future employment. There are opportunities to intern in many areas of Nashville, so please select the opportunity based on your access to transportation. The POWER Youth program, previously known as Opportunity NOW, provides career exploration and work experience activities for youth 14 to 24 years old. The name POWER Youth was selected by the peer youth leadership team based on how they view themselves and their future.
Responsibilities
Interns will participate in healthcare training, earn certifications, and assist in delivering health education to younger students. They will also collaborate with peers to plan and host a community health fair.
