Job Details Job Type Full-time Reese, MI Over the road Description: DHT is actively looking for EXPERIENCED flatbed semi- truck drivers. This position is an OTR position. The applicant must have prior verifiable experience with flat- bed semi- trucks, including B trains, as well as verifiable experience in tarping, chaining, and securement operations. Preferred candidate will have hazmat endorsement and experience transporting bulk hazmat commodity. *Bronze Level Veteran Friendly Employer from Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency* Military veterans strongly encouraged to apply Flatbed Driver Essential Duties: • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting goods • Fit 4-foot and 8-foot tarps over loaded product to safely secure it to the trailer • Operate an industrial vehicle according to applicable state and federal transportation laws • Transports loads safely and in a timely manner over required route, obeying all traffic laws • Maneuvers truck and trailer into loading and unloading areas; follows loading crew signals • Assists with loading and unloading of materials, using specialized equipment when warranted • Maintains work orders, signed invoices, shipping bills of lading, and other required paperwork • Facilitates routine service on trucks and reports equipment issues to appropriate parties • Arranges trailers in shipping yards for optimum loading patterns • Collect delivery instructions from appropriate sources, verifying instructions and routes • Verify load weight distribution as product is loaded onto the trailer Flatbed Driver Compensation Package: • Up to $2,500 sign on bonus • Competitive pay - paid per mile (.55-.62) • $50 Tarp- pay for every load • Paid Vacation after 1 year employment. Candidate would have the option to stay out longer) Verifiable Experience chaining, strapping, tarping loads, including coiled steel Ability to drive a manual transmission Preferred requirements: TWIC card Ability to go to Canada X endorsement Hazmat cargo experience
Responsibilities
The flatbed driver is responsible for safely transporting loads over required routes while adhering to all traffic laws. They must also assist with loading and unloading materials and maintain necessary paperwork.
