ABOUT YOU – SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
· AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, or equivalent
· Experience in Middle Eastern cuisine is highly regarded
· Strong command of written and spoken English
· Food safety and hygiene certification
· Fine dining or high-end restaurant experience
· Excellent attention to detail and time management
· Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment
· Positive, can-do attitude with strong leadership and team spirit
· Customer-focused, reliable, and self-motivated
· Strong interpersonal and communication skills
· Must pass a police check

Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

We are seeking a skilled, passionate and reliable Chef to join our elite team. This is a full-time role, ideal for a motivated professional committed to culinary excellence and operational leadership. You’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering Zahli’s high-end food experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Manage the full kitchen P&L, including supplier, labour, and maintenance costs
· Oversee procurement and supplier management to ensure quality and efficiency
· Estimate food and labour costs and assist in budgeting and cost control
· Menu engineering and development of seasonal and off-menu items
· Lead recruitment, training, and performance management of kitchen staff
· Drive creativity in menu planning, including catering and special events
· Manage kitchen operations from raw materials to plated presentation
· Operate and maintain high-end commercial kitchen equipment
· Collaborate with management on planning menus and special dishes
· Ensure the highest standards of food quality, hygiene, and presentation
· Minimise waste and improve operational efficiencies
· Manage BOH systems, inventory, and stock rotation
· Ensure all food safety and OH&S protocols are strictly followed
· Maintain and monitor kitchen equipment and facilities
· Respond to and resolve any food-related customer concerns or complaints
· Support and mentor junior kitchen staff and trainees
· Adhere to NSW Health regulations and company policies
