Description

In this role, the CNC Machine Operator will be responsible for operating CNC mills and/or lathes, as directed by the Supervisor or Set up Technician. The Operator will be required to notify the Set-up Technician or Supervisor in the event of an issue or machine stoppage. The individual is required to deburr parts and perform measurements throughout the operation. This position has room for advancement in the Machining field, training will be provided at all stages of the job process.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Mechanically inclined or a combination of education and experience.
  • Interest in a machining apprenticeship a strong asset
  • Minimum of 3 years of trades experience preferred (millwright, welding, machining, other as applicable)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Requires ability to stand for extended periods of time, ability to lift up to 50lbs, operate overhead cranes with safe rigging practices.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for operating machines, including starting the machine and stopping the machine upon run time completion.
  • Place parts correctly in the work holding devices and secure correctly to ensure successful operation.
  • Perform basic machine set ups to ensure successful operation.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to understand product specifications
  • Required to measure parts upon completion to ensure they are within the desired tolerance range. Performing spot checks where applicable. If a part is out of tolerance they will be required to inform the Supervisor or Set-up Technician.
  • Required to deburr and finish parts to the prescribed standard.
  • Required to clock into the jobs for set ups – batching is acceptable.
  • Required to report pieces good and pieces scrapped.
  • Complete all work in a safe manner.
  • Ensure cleanliness of their workstation and overall CNC shop
