Description

Location: Dunwich, North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah)
Hours: 20–25 hours per week (with flexibility & room to grow)
Type: Part-time
About Us
The Little Ship Club (LSC) is a much-loved community hub and hospitality venue set right on the waterfront of North Stradbroke Island. Established in the 1950s, our Club is an iconic spot for locals, boaties, day-trippers, and families. With unbeatable views, live music, and hearty meals, we pride ourselves on being the island’s go-to destination for good food, cold drinks, and friendly faces.
About the Role
We’re on the lookout for an experienced Cook / Chef to join our kitchen crew. This is a hands-on role with plenty of variety — from preparing raw ingredients ready for service, to cooking crowd-favourite bistro classics, seafood dishes, and weekly specials.
You’ll work alongside our Head Chef and hospitality team to:
Prepare raw ingredients ready for service (vegetables, meats, sauces, seafood prep)
Cook and plate quality meals to a consistent standard
Help manage kitchen operations during service
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen
Assist with stock management and prep
Collaborate on new specials and menu ideas
Contribute to a positive, respectful team environment
About You
We’re looking for someone reliable, confident in the kitchen, and able to keep cool under pressure. You don’t need fine-dining experience — but you do need a passion for good food and teamwork.
You’ll bring:
✔ Previous experience in a commercial kitchen (pub/bistro style ideal)
✔ Confidence in preparing raw ingredients and running service smoothly
✔ Food safety and hygiene knowledge
✔ A flexible, team-focused attitude
✔ A reliable, positive work ethic
✔ Ability to handle busy services with care and efficiency
Bonus if you’re familiar with island or regional hospitality work
