Urban Forage is looking for an experienced cook/chef to come join our ghost kitchen in Langford. We are a meal prep service and we make absolutely everything from scratch, focusing on local purveyors/farmers with our menu. We even grow some of our own produce! We’re striving for maximum efficiency in our day to day operations as we take this business to the next level. The job is Monday – Thursday to start and 32 hours/week, but that will grow into full time in the coming months.
You are a strong cook with savory experience. Knife skills pay the bills in this job. You work well on your own and are able to prioritize and coordinate your work day while being clean and efficient. Most importantly, you have high standards in all aspects of life, but especially for the food you put out. We are willing to train a candidate who is committed to the craft of cooking and wants to learn. We are a small operation and you will see, taste and in time create every item on our menu.
Gourmet Condiments - We bottle Gourmet Sauces & Preserves, make Spice Blends and produce a very popular Gourmet Shake & Bake coating.
Gourmet Heat & Serve - Appetizers, Entrees, Pizzas, Soups, Desserts and more are produced in large batches, packaged and frozen. Our full menu is available at www.urbanforage.ca where customers place orders and we deliver directly to them.
As well as our website sales, we have partnerships with 33 different local and independent grocers who each have an assorted selection of our Condiments as well as our Frozen Heat & Serve. We produce these items in larger batches by the case for Red Barn Market, The Root Cellar, Urban Grocer, Peppers and many more. Our products are now in 33 locations on the Island. Daniel’s Market in Sooke, Every corner of Victoria and many locations all the up to Courtney. It is a great asset that you have a driver’s license and are an experienced driver as part of the job may be doing deliveries and supply runs in the company van.
Consistency and execution are paramount with our production schedule. All of our systems are in place and we have a great kitchen set-up…we just need you to come in and produce our diverse and fun menu, side by side with our Chef and owner!
Pay will be based on experience and ability to produce and includes a modest tip pool. This a a production position. The more you can produce, the more you are worth to us.
