The Boeing Company is looking for an Experienced Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join the Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex System (GEDMS) team located in Huntington Beach, California. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing-designed GEDMS high-speed fiber-optic shipboard network for U.S. Navy guided missile destroyers, other Aegis locations and related Foreign Military Sales. The position will focus on the design, development and maintenance of new and existing electrical/electronic hardware used in the network system variants that include equipment for ruggedized switching, routing, and signal processing.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Typically, 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • 5 years of experience in electrical hardware engineering development.
  • Experience with electronic analytic tools.
  • FPGA design and development experience.
  • Experience performing product verification testing.
  • Experience managing supplier assemblies and requirements.
  • 5 years of experience in defense contracts or similar programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Active US Security Clearance
  • Experience with Xilinx FPGA place/route tools.
  • Proficient in digital logic design (gate-level & VHDL) & simulation.
  • Experience with analog circuits, power supplies, and EMI protection devices.
  • Experience in quality assurance designs validations.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required

Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze and translate customer requirements into the design of electrical hardware products and systems.
  • Provide support input to aid EMI compatibility, signal integrity and power integrity analysis and simulation models.
  • Test, debug, and integrate hardware into existing systems while meeting industry, customer, safety and regulation standards.
  • Integrate hardware components with embedded software, FPGAs, IC chips and discrete components.
  • Support project planning through schedule and budget estimations.
  • Support production through acceptance test development and maintenance
  • Provide expertise to logistics and obsolescence management
  • Work within configuration management and procedure controls common to defense contracts.
    This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
    This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
