We are actively seeking dedicated, enthusiastic family law associates to join our growing team to serve clients at courthouses in Newmarket, Toronto, and throughout the GTA and Simcoe County.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Progressive Legal Solutions Professional Corporation seeks a highly motivated Family Law Lawyer to become part of our dynamic team. Ideal candidates have 3+ years of post-call experience; however, we value determination, adaptability, and character above experience alone. Comprehensive training will be provided to the right candidate, even if they have only 2 years of post-call experience.
We seek individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, excel at multitasking, and can operate effectively both independently and within a collaborative team setting. The ideal candidate demonstrates resilience under pressure, embraces challenges, and approaches their work with positivity and determination.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; Canadian law school graduates preferred
  • Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
  • Minimum 3 years of post-call experience (but 2 years of post-call experience may be considered)
  • Family law trial and court litigation experience are required
  • Familiarity with litigation rules and procedures in Central East and Toronto regions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal matters clearly
  • Excellent analytical abilities with meticulous attention to detail
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • High ethical standards and commitment to maintaining strict client confidentiality

Responsibilities
  • The family law associate will have an independent carriage of the files requiring to be able to perform the following tasks:
  • Represent clients in court, mediation sessions, and negotiation proceedings in family law matters
  • Conduct thorough legal research using platforms such as Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw
  • Draft various legal documents including separation agreements, prenuptial agreements, and cohabitation agreements
  • Prepare essential pleadings such as Applications, Answers, Briefs, and Motions, adhering strictly to Family Law Rules
  • Assist in trial preparation, including document preparation and witness coaching, alongside principal lawyers
  • Provide informed legal advice to clients, clearly communicating their rights and obligations under applicable legislation
  • Stay informed about evolving laws, regulations, and trends relevant to family law practice
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues and support staff to manage cases efficiently
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by senior lawyers
