This role is primarily field-based, working directly at customer sites to perform both scheduled maintenance and complex repairs. You’ll serve as a trusted expert to our customers—delivering high-quality service, minimizing equipment downtime, and ensuring clear communication throughout the repair process. Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on industrial equipment in the field * Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and component replacements * Accurately troubleshoot breakdowns and determine effective repair solutions * Provide repair estimates and communicate recommendations clearly to customers * Operate shop equipment such as lathes, drill presses, and grinders as needed * Review completed work and maintenance findings with customers * Utilize mobile service technology to complete work orders, capture signatures, and close jobs daily * Collaborate with dispatchers and account managers on job status and customer needs * Maintain company-provided vehicle, tools, and equipment * Follow all safety procedures and reporting requirements Qualifications Education * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Technical or vocational training preferred Experience & Skills * 3+ years of experience as a service technician (material handling, heavy equipment, automotive, or related field) * Proven experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostic tools/software * Ability to read and interpret schematic diagrams and technical manuals * Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently in the field * Excellent time management, organization, and attention to detail * Strong communication and customer service skills Requirements * Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record * Ability to manage workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines independently * Commitment to safety and company core values * Must pass pre-employment drug screening Schedule & Benefits * Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM * Compensation & Perks * $2,000 sign-on bonus + referral bonus opportunities * Competitive hourly pay based on experience * Union benefits package including: * Medical, dental, and vision coverage * Competitive pension plan * PTO and sick time in the first year * 10 paid holidays Additional Benefits * Tool loan program * Annual boot, safety glasses, and gym reimbursement programs * Company-Provided for Field Technicians * Modern service van (fuel card + maintenance included) * Laptop, and iPhone * Specialized tools and PPE * Laundered uniforms Towlift is an equal opportunity employer.
