Experienced Gradesman
Location: Chilliwack, BC Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent Pay: $30–$40/hour (based on experience) Start Date: Immediate
About the Role
We’re looking for a skilled Gradesman with a strong background in civil construction, particularly in site preparation and underground utilities. If you know how to read plans, set accurate grades, and work closely with operators and foremen to keep the job moving—this is for you.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate grading equipment to achieve precise elevations
  • Perform Survey Layout for excavation,pipe installation and grading
  • Set and verify elevatons and benchmarks using GPS and laser levels
  • Collaborate with foremen,pipelayers and inspectors to ensure quality
  • Work alongside surveyors to verify measurements and slopes
  • Direct Equipment operators to adjust grade levels as needed.
  • Ensre proper compaction of eath to meet engineering standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of grading work for accuracy
  • Maintain and calibrate survey instruments
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and site regulations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Gradesman in civil construction
  • Proficient with Trimble GPS, laser levels, and survey instruments
  • Strong understanding of earthworks, trenching, and utility layout
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specs
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Bonus Assets

  • Experience with storm, water, and sanitary systems
  • Familiarity with erosion control and retention tanks
  • WHMIS and First Aid certifications
