JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Porter to support our high-volume kitchen. This role is ideal for someone who thrives under pressure, understands the pace of a busy restaurant, and takes pride in maintaining a clean, efficient kitchen environment.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 1–2 years’ experience as a kitchen porter or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen
  • Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards
  • Ability to manage heavy workloads calmly and efficiently
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and a true team player
  • Physically fit and capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
Responsibilities
  • Maintain a spotless kitchen through deep cleaning routines and ongoing tidiness during service
  • Operate industrial dishwashers and hand-wash large kitchen equipment as needed and clean filters regularly
  • Handle high volumes of dishware, cookware, and utensils with speed and accuracy
  • Assist chefs with basic prep tasks (e.g. portioning, peeling, organizing ingredients)
  • Organise and rotate stock; receive and check deliveries for accuracy and quality
  • Ensure waste is disposed of safely and kitchen bins are regularly emptied and sanitise
  • Communicate effectively with chefs and front-of-house to ensure smooth service flow
  • Lead by example for junior porters or new team members if required
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation (e.g. peeling, chopping) when required
  • Restock kitchen supplies (e.g. plates, utensils, cleaning products)
  • Follow health and safety, food hygiene, and sanitation guidelines at all times
  • Work closely with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service
  • Maintain a calm, focused attitude during busy service periods
