EXPERIENCED LEGAL SECRETARY – FULL TIME POSITION AVAILABLE

CH-R Family Solicitors are a niche firm of solicitors specialising in family law. Our Partners, Claire Hamilton-Russell and Daisy Hutchinson, have over 50 years of combined experience having previously worked at leading London law firms. Our aim is to assist clients by being proactive, empathetic, professional and non-judgmental.
We specialise in acting for high net-worth individuals, many of whom are based in London often with international issues. We offer a bespoke personalised service, taking the time to listen to our client’s needs and requirements, then advising as to how best those needs can be met.
We are looking for someone to join our busy team from 6 May 2025 on a full-time basis (9am – 5.30pm). The role is an office-based role.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Legal secretary for senior family law partner.
Job Purpose: To provide a high quality secretarial and administrative service to a partner and other fee earners.
Benefits: We offer a competitive salary (£30,000 - £34,000) depending on experience plus other benefits including pension, bonus, free parking and additional days holiday at Christmas.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

  • Legal secretarial experience, preferably in family law but not essential.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative, discretion and confidentiality.
  • Good organisational skills with a flexible, pragmatic, problem-solving approach and an ability to prioritise and react quickly and professionally.
  • Well presented with good client handling skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Packages including BigHand, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative team member with ability to quickly build relationships with a wide range of people and communicate well.
Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Full range of secretarial work including audio typing, preparation of legal documents (experience of court forms an advantage) answering calls.
  • Diary management for busy senior partner.
  • Managing financial processes, billing clients, debt collection, dealing with billing enquiries from clients.
  • Assisting fee-earners with court preparation.
  • Liaising with clients in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
  • Working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Photocopying and scanning bundles, disclosure and other documents.
  • Regularly and accurately maintain and update filing as and when required.
  • Preparing and amending attendance notes, letters, presentations and other documents as required, using Microsoft Office and the Document Management System (Leap).
  • Maintaining confidentiality of the firm’s clients and contacts at all times.
  • Post duties (to include scanning and saving incoming post and preparing outgoing post).
  • Answering the door to clients/visitors and preparing refreshments.
  • Assisting with general office administration.
