NIGHT CARE ASSISTANT

Lansglade House Limited currently have exciting opportunities for an experienced part time Care Assistant to work night shifts.

The right candidate will be based in one of our Homes situated in Bedford, providing an excellent standard of person-centred care to our Elderly Residents, in a dignified manner.

Responsibilities

· To provide personal care and support to residents with a wide range of needs, illnesses and disabilities.
· Ensure that residents physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs are met and maintain their dignity, choice, independence and respect at all times.
· Support and work closely with families and friends offering them professional and emotional support, sensitive to individual need.
· Assist in the delivery of care for residents who are dying. Assist with last offices.
· Closely monitor residents who may be confused and or who have behavioural problems.
· Assist in the promotion of continence.
· Complete written daily records as instructed and in line with company policy and procedures and assist other carers to complete relevant documentation.
· Answer the nurse call system, giving assistance as required. Answer the door and telephone appropriately. Respond accordingly and pass on messages promptly.
· Encourage residents to become involved in the home. Welcome and encourage their participation in activities so that they can participate and remain emotionally and intellectually stimulated.
· Make visitors feel welcome. Provide refreshments and assistance as and when required.
· Make and change beds, ensuring that rooms are clean and tidy, and commodes are empty.
· Tidy rooms and do light cleaning duties around the home.
· Assist residents with eating and drinking and offer assistance as necessary and be aware of swallowing difficulties and all dietary requirements.
· Understand and ensure the implementation of the Home’s Health and Safety, Infection Control and Hygiene policies, and Emergency and Fire procedures.
· Report to the Home Manager, or the Maintenance Team any faulty appliances, damaged furniture, equipment or any potential hazard.
· Contribute to the safeguarding of adults by ensuring you are aware of your role in relation to the company’s Safeguarding Adults Policy, taking steps to protect residents from any form of abuse or neglect and use the appropriate reporting systems to inform the homes management of any concerns.
· Carry out security checks throughout the building and ensure the building is secure at all times.
