Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is hiring an Experienced or Lead Process Engineering Technician to join the Patriot Advanced Capability 3 (PAC-3) team located in Huntsville, AL. This position will support the production rate increase and advanced technology upgrade activities. This role will be involved in production support activities directly supporting the production of the PAC3 and associated Circuit Cards.
Boeing Huntsville has multi-year contracts to develop, manufacture, and test the Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile seeker and future improvements. These contracts are driving significant, long-term growth for the PAC-3 engineering team on the Huntsville campus.
Shift Work Statement: This position is for A (1st) Shift. (M-Th; 4x10)

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • 5+ years of technical leadership and experience in the Electronics Manufacturing / PCB Assembly industry
  • 5+ years of experience working with Quality Standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 14000
  • 5+ years of experience reading engineering blueprints/drawings
  • 5+ years of experience in CCA (Circuit Card Assembly) machine programming / CAD

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Associates Degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • Extensive knowledge in electro-mechanical assembly processes: SMT, Reflow, AOI/AXI, Wash, Conformal Coat, Mechanical Assembly, and Test
  • Advanced troubleshooting, prioritization, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experienced in DFM, DOE, PFMEA, and 8D practices and theory
  • Proficient in Product Data Management (PDM), Bill of Materials, (BOM), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and ERP/MRP systems
  • Familiar in the application / deployment of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) or AS9145 within organizations
  • Ability to design fixtures and tooling in a manufacturing environment
  • Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt Certified
  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in leading and integrating process improvement initiatives
  • Knowledge and application of Project Management
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth understanding of engineering design and manufacturing processes

  • Level 3: 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
  • Level 4: 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience
Responsibilities
  • Analyze and coordinate with process engineering to correct manufacturing processes and to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, driving positive change and delivering high-quality results.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement solutions for process enhancements.
  • Provide regular status updates to leaders from multiple functions, ensuring effective communication.
  • Gather and develop requirements for solutions, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Design, develop, and implement efficient SMT processes for new product introductions (NPI) and existing production line catalog of products
  • Continuously monitor and analyze production processes to identify and implement advancements in efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide expert technical support to resolve process-related issues on the production floor, including equipment malfunctions, material defects, and process deviations.
  • Oversee the selection, implementation, and maintenance of production equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to establish process controls and specifications while ensuring product quality in accordance with industry standards (IPC & J-STD)
  • Provide training and technical support to engineering, operations, and maintenance teams on SMT process characteristics, defect analysis and reduction, and industry best practice concepts or performance enhancement approach
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as LEAN manufacturing and six-sigma projects to enhance process capability and product reliability
  • Develops, implements, and maintains manufacturing documentation pertaining to part specifications, work instructions, process flow maps, and quality control assurance
