OTD Ticket Defenders Legal Services is seeking a licensed paralegal litigator to join our Cambridge team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must be in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario and have a valid driver’s licence with reliable transportation. The ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, the ability to multi-task, strong written and verbal skills, is computer proficient, and a proven track record as a paralegal litigator.

EXPERIENCE:

Previous experience as a licensed paralegal with Provincial Offences/Highway Traffic Act matters is required. Experience as a litigator/in court is required.

General job duties include (but are not limited to):

• Attendance at court for general appearances, plea dates and to conduct trials
• Reviewing client disclosure
• Managing court lists (scheduling)
• Preparation for court including client meetings
• Case law research
• Witness interviews
• Resolution discussions with Crown/Prosecutors in person and by phone
• Reviewing and drafting legal documents
• Obtaining instructions from clients
• Reporting court results to clients (orally and in writing)
