Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in asphalt paving, preferred
  • Solid understanding of paving operations and safety practices
  • Ability to work extended hours, including weekends and evenings during peak season
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation to job sites
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow direction from supervisors
  • CSA-approved steel-toed boots, hard hat and cell phone is required for safety documentation
  • Strong work ethic and willing to learn
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Able to work out of town, as needed
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme heat
  • Flag person training an asset
  • Complete electronic paperwork
Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

Assist in all areas of paving including raking, screed and finish roller.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the placement and raking of asphalt to ensure a uniform, compact finish
  • Operate hand tools and small equipment such as rakes, lutes, shovels, plate compactors, and blowers
  • Work alongside the paver and roller operators to ensure consistent material flow
  • Assist in prepping work areas including grading, cleaning, and setting up traffic control if required
  • Monitor mat temperature, thickness, and joint quality to ensure compliance with project specs
  • Communicate effectively with the foreman and equipment operators to maintain workflow
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow safety policies and procedures at all times
  • Perform other general labour duties as required to support the paving crew
  • Apply coating chemicals
