Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Experienced Product Review Engineer (Level 3) to support our Customer Support Boeing Operations Center (BOC) based in Seal Beach, CA.
As a Product Review (Service Engineer) Engineer, you will collaborate with the structures team within the Operations Center to promptly address repairs for in-service aircraft. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with other structures teams across Customer Support. The successful candidate will be skilled in developing repair solutions, coordinating with multiple internal and external teams, mentoring fellow engineers, and leading process improvements to ensure high-quality customer support.
The Customer Support Boeing Operations Center (BOC) supports all in-service Boeing commercial airplane models, including the MD-10, MD-11, 737, 747, 757, 767, 777, and 787. Team members engage with a diverse range of challenges across various airplane models and sections. This position requires flexibility in work hours, typically following a 7 days on/7 days off schedule, with shifts generally from 12 AM to 12 PM or 12 PM to 12 AM.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in Engineering.
  • 3+ years experience working with composite and/or metallic structures.
  • 3+ years experience with airplane structural repair design and philosophy.
  • 3+ years of aircraft design and/or repair experience.
  • Flexibility to work a nonstandard schedule, which may include working “7 days-on/7days-off”, holidays and weekends, and second or third shift hours to support the Boeing fleet operating 24/7/365.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Experience with Boeing aircraft data (repairs manuals, drawings etc.).
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and writing.
  • Experience with basic hand analysis methods.
  • Experience working with and supporting customers (e.g. Airlines, Operators, Lessors).
  • Prior experience with AOG resolution.
  • Prior experience communicating directly with customers.
  • Experience coordinating with cross-functional subject matter experts (SMEs) in an environment of urgency.

Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent Required

Responsibilities
  • Develops AOG repair solutions for primary and secondary structures on all Boeing and MD series commercial models.
  • Collaborates with multiple disciplines within Boeing for support (aerodynamics, fire marshal, non-destructive testing, stress, etc).
  • Collaborates with customers via verbal and written communications.
  • Communicates with Boeing and customer executive leadership.
  • Communicates with Airline and MRO customers (phone, e-mail, in-person, Boeing Communication System/BCS).
  • Performs review of customer requests and determine the best avenue for resolution.
  • Provide repair solutions and approval forms to customers.
  • Creates outgoing customer messages using BCS, and ensures quality and safety.
  • Initiates proactive repair solutions across the Boeing fleet.
  • Develops basic analysis, substantiation and/or justification packages for repairs and/or fly-on limits.
  • Researches technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the airline/MRO customers.
  • Assesses incoming customer communications to resolve potential fleet safety issues.
  • Identifies the need for technical training.
  • Helps customers to keep their aircraft flying safely by addressing urgent “Aircraft On Ground” (AOG) issues.
