Description:

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY:

The department of Cyber Physical Systems is looking for an Experienced Researcher to join the Decision & Control team. This team focuses on the co-design of communication, control, and computation for Cyber Physical Systems, including connected mobile robots, UAVs, autonomous vehicles, and industrial process control systems.
Our work is centered on exploring future applications for Ericsson’s networks, with an emphasis on understanding network requirements, expanding our patent portfolio for connected devices, and establishing thought leadership through publications in top scientific journals and conferences.
Our team collaborates closely with other Ericsson Research teams, participates in external research projects, and has a long-standing tradition of partnering with academic institutions. The section consists of six employees and regularly hosts PhD interns and MSc students. This role is based at Ericsson headquarters in Kista, equipped with a robotics lab and indoor/outdoor 5G/6G testbeds.

THE SKILLS YOU BRING:

  • MSc or PhD in automatic control, robotics, signal processing, machine learning, or a related technical field.
  • Proficient in programming, with experience in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar languages.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to independently formulate and tackle complex issues.
  • Proven experience and enthusiasm for publishing research in high-quality conferences and journals.
  • Demonstrated experience and interest in mentoring students (e.g., supervising thesis projects and/or PhD internships).
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, along with strong presentation abilities.

ADDITIONAL BENEFICIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Research experience in networked robotics and/or networked control systems.
  • Background in machine learning or data-driven methods applied to networked control systems and/or networked robotics.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop novel concepts, innovative solutions, and algorithms for challenges in co-design of communication, control, and computation, contributing both theoretical insights and practical implementations.
  • Evaluate and demonstrate proposed solutions and algorithms using simulation tools and real-world data in testbed environments.
  • Be part of a motivated, multidisciplinary research team dedicated to collaborative problem-solving.
  • Publish your findings in patents, as well as in leading technical journals and conference proceedings.
  • Supervise hosted MSc students and PhD interns, and actively engage in both internal and external collaborations.
  • Work in a dynamic environment with opportunities for continuous learning, take on new responsibilities and influence work methodologies.
