Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Sewing Machine Operator to join our production team. The ideal candidate will operate industrial sewing machines to manufacture and other manufacturing requirements. You should have good hand-eye coordination, be quality-focused, and be able to follow instructions and safety protocols. The products are heavy and require manual handling techniques to be followed at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate industrial sewing machines (sew, hem, cut fabric products).
Read and interpret work orders, patterns, or instructions to determine sewing requirements.
Inspect fabric for defects, and ensure finished products meet quality standards.
Perform routine machine checks and report mechanical issues to supervisors.
Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
Meet production targets and deadlines without compromising quality.
Follow all safety guidelines and company policies.
Assist with other production-related tasks as needed.
Lift and move heavy assembled products.
Be responsible for own health and safety and others reporting any near misses.
Undertake any training required to complete the job efficiently and safely.
Assist in mechanical builds and working with electrical elements.
Complete final quality checks & inspections on products, visually and through measurement.
Be capable of picking up & carrying out multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work with hand tools and machinery.
Support production flow working with the operations manager and supervisors to achieve products on time to the right quality.
Building motors and testing.
Traceability and making sure all products are 100% inspected.
Supporting the business in multiple environments when work tasks are required.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a sewing machine operator required (minimum 1–2 years).
Previous experience in manufacturing.
Ability to operate and troubleshoot various types of sewing machines.
Basic knowledge of textile types and garment construction.
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
Ability to sit for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
Good time management and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, bend, and lift heavy materials.
Excellent hand-eye coordination.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £12.33 per hour
Expected hours: 39.5 per week
