Description

Contour886, in Watford, supply custom made seating systems for wheelchair users.
We also offer a range of custom products that have been developed to assist the lives of the people we work with.
We are looking for an experienced Workshop/Production Engineer to work within our busy workshop. The role involves a wide range of traditional workshop skills including manual, mechanical and engineering tasks. You will follow detailed instructions to produce our high quality products to tight timescales.

The role includes:

  • Cutting, finishing and heat forming of plastic
  • Cutting, finishing of ply and foam
  • Basic metalworking
  • Vac forming
  • Wheel chair mechanics
  • Working with fastenings, nuts, bolts, washers and inserts
  • Basic electrical systems
  • Building and fitting of medical seating posture systems
  • Interfacing on to new and existing wheelchair bases

If you have the aptitude for the role and practical experience, full training will be given to enable you to become a key member of our small, close knit team.
You will be using basic hand tools and a number of larger machine tools, band saws, pillar drills, etc. There will be opportunities to expand the role into our CNC department, offering future development.
This is a full time position requiring a number of technical skills, and also needs you to be involved in developing standards where efficiencies or higher standards can be achieved.
Would suit a creatively minded person, with good workshop skills and design experience. You will have strong attention to detail, a flexible, positive approach to your work and a willingness to support the wider team. You will have a genuine interest in making products to a high standard, with good engineering practice, experience of manufacturing in plastic and foam, natural communication skills and a problem solving attitude.
A natural aptitude for a continuous improvement approach will be required so that we can continue to develop and make our production methods more efficient.
Full training will be given to enable you to become a key member of our small close knit team.
We offer a competitive salary with 25 days holiday in addition to Bank Holidays.
