Description
Nova is seeking an Experimental Physicist with broad exposure to multiple technologies, ideally with a strong background in ultrafast optics. Experience or familiarity with semiconductor process control and fabrication is considered a strong advantage. As a New-Tech Physicist, you will lead and execute concept and feasibility studies, working both independently and in close collaboration with internal teams and external partners. In this role, you will play a key part in identifying, evaluating, and integrating emerging technologies that will shape Nova’s innovation roadmap and future product portfolio. Role Responsibilities What you will be doing: Lead and execute early-stage research projects to explore, validate, and de-risk new technological concepts, including hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and simulations Identify emerging industry needs and proactively scout disruptive and enabling technologies to address future challenges Collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams and external partners (academia and industry) to drive feasibility studies and concept development Influence Nova’s strategic technology direction by introducing novel, high-impact ideas into the company’s innovation and technology portfolio Requirements M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Physics or a related engineering discipline Strong hands-on experience with complex experimental setups and measurements; experience in ultrafast optics is a strong advantage (e.g., femtosecond lasers, OPOs, pump–probe experiments) Proficiency in data analysis and algorithm development, using relevant software tools such as MATLAB and/or Python Experience in optical and mechanical system design – an advantage Familiarity with semiconductor manufacturing processes and fab environments – an advantage Proven ability to evaluate and compare diverse technological approaches based on different physical principles Strong experimental consideration skills, including designing, building, and optimizing complex laboratory setups That special something you bring in: Innovative and curious mindset, with the confidence to challenge conventional solutions Excellent problem-solving abilities and a creative, out-of-the-box approach Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and lead in a matrix environment Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Get to know us better: Nova (NASDAQ: NVMI) is a global company and a leading provider of innovative metrology solutions for process control in semiconductor manufacturing.
