Responsibilities

Leading chipmakers use manufacturing equipment to mass produce computer chips that are smaller, faster and greener. Over the next decade, Dutch manufacturing equipment powered by TNO technology will define the pace of computing power development.
In the Semicon Equipment and Metrology (SEM) department, we enable world-leading manufacturers of semiconductor equipment to innovate, to develop new equipment and metrology, and to improve their current systems. Together with scientists, designers, engineers and project managers, we realize proof-of-concepts and prototypes in our labs to research challenges from our customers and to study feasibility of proposed technical solutions. Experimental work is performed in our Van Leeuwenhoek Laboratory, which houses a wide range of state of the art facilities: in-house built ultraclean vacuum equipment for gas flow and gas composition analysis, nanoparticle detection and trajectory measurements, surface analysis, plasma analysis, and much more. One of our main goals is to support our partners worldwide, to enable the continuing development of EUV lithography for high-volume manufacturing, and to apply our knowledge and expertise in other high tech domains.
As an experimental specialist or researcher, you will be a key person in our projects. In a project team, you will be the person responsible for the experimental data needed to answer the challenging questions we are asked. On one hand you will work closely with scientists to make sure that the experimental plan is realistic and to handle unforeseen outcomes during the experiments. You will enable the scientists to tackle the challenges of our customers with high quality data from your experiments.
You will be part of a team of researchers. Together you take care of the labs and setups in our department. Often you will need to use your engineering skills to either build or upgrade setups to make them ready for experiments. Additionally, for one or more setups, you may become the Setup Owner, making you the go-to person for anything related to the setup. In this role, supported by other professionals, you will take care of maintenance, safety and quality of setups. This environment will also give you plenty opportunities to further shape and develop your career. Join us at the frontier of knowledge and technology!
