We are seeking an expert Diesel Mechanic with extensive experience to join our Owego facility, ensuring our fleet operates at peak performance through advanced diagnostics and repairs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of hands on experience as a diesel mechanic, specializing in semi trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Expert proficiency with advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., scan tools, oscilloscopes, or proprietary software for major diesel brands).
  • In depth knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel delivery, emissions control, and electronic control modules (ECMs).
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required) for test driving and vehicle movement.
  • Exceptional problem solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex mechanical issues efficiently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and thrive in a high pressure, fast paced shop environment.
  • Strong leadership skills and a commitment to mentoring less experienced team members.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair intricate issues in diesel engines, focusing on fuel injection, turbochargers, and aftertreatment systems.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting with diagnostic tools (e.g., Cummins Insite, Detroit DDDL, or similar) to resolve complex issues like misfires, DEF system faults, or ECM failures.
  • Diagnose and repair advanced electrical and lighting systems, including wiring harnesses, sensors, and LED retrofits.
  • Execute precision repairs on air brake systems, transmissions, and differentials, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Lead and mentor junior technicians, sharing expertise in repair techniques, safety protocols, and shop efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with shop management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement by recommending upgrades or process enhancements to optimize fleet reliability.
  • Uphold a safe, organized shop environment, strictly adhering to OSHA and EPA regulations.
