Description Reporting To: Fixed Ops Manager FLSA Code: Non Exempt Position: Requires clocking in and out including breaks Position Description: The full time Express Service Technician is responsible for the successful tire, battery, and oil services to customer vehicles following all accepted automotive standards, processes and procedures. This position interacts daily with customers, technicians, Service Adviser, and Service Manager. Put safety first. Must adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and personal protective equipment requirements and standards Demonstrate a superior understanding of brand vehicles, pre-owned vehicles and related financial products in order to provide an excellent retail and service experience to Thomas customers Establish and meet individual service goals Perform tire, battery, and oil services to customer vehicles following all accepted automotive standards, processes, and procedures Participates actively with team servicing of every customer vehicle to ensure fast, expert service Performs Multi Point Inspection (MPI) visual inspections and communicate with Service Manager and/or customer service adviser within 10 minutes Recommends services based on findings from thorough inspection Perform oil changes in a fast-paced environment. Inspects fluid levels Executes fluid flushes Checks tires and tire air pressure; replaces tires as needed Performs wheel alignment Completes pre-delivery inspection on new cars Replaces oil and air filters Sells lubrication, safety inspection, and other related services Checks tire pressure and adds air if needed. Lubricates moving parts with specified lubricants Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor Documents all work performed on the repair order. Reports any safety issues immediately to management Provides excellent customer service Promotes teamwork to deliver times and accurate customer care during all operating hours Demonstrates a sense of responsive urgency to every customer no matter what service is required Uses the Quality Service Evaluation (QSE) form to understand customer service adviser's and customer service manager's instructions Fulfills the customer's needs the first time, every time Communicates with Service Manager, Service Adviser, and other Technicians to meet Thomas Automotive time standards and to exceed customer requirements. Adheres to Thomas Automotive Family Dress Code standards Protects customer's vehicle from debris with floor mats, seat/steering wheel covers and, if necessary, fender covers Maintains back shop cleanliness and equipment calibration to Thomas Automotive Family standards Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned Maintain a safe and clean workspace, as well as ensuring the entire facility is orderly, clean and free of hazards Requirements Preferred Skills: Prior quick lube experience helpful. Speed and expertise when installing tires and batteries Commitment to teamwork and mentoring others Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. ASE certification preferred. General mechanical skills. Valid driver's license and a good driving record. Good judgment. Commitment to safety: Use of appropriate personal protective equipment, back belt, safety glasses and safety shoes at all times. Maintenance of individual productivity as defined by the business sales per hour standard. Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds. Extended workdays of up to 10 hours, weekends and nights as necessary. Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fast-paced environment. Ability to read and utilize reports Working Conditions: The Technician will stand six to eight hours per shift, lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds several times during each shift, and use hoist and test equipment as needed. S/he will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and feel. S/he will use hand and power tools. S/he will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, and other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. Road-testing of vehicles may be required. The Technician will be required to wear a dealership uniform at all times.
