Description

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you interested in a career as a Medical Device Reprocessing Technician (MDRT)? We are seeking individuals interested in receiving specialty training and a permanent position to work as MDRT’s at Nova Scotia Health!
The Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) program prepares motivated individuals to complete the MDR technician course. This program supports bridging theory and practice, and prepares you for skills in cleaning, disinfection, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, transportation, and storage of all reusable critical or semi-critical medical devices and equipment. The program includes full time employment working in the Medical Device Reprocessing Area (MDRA) while also studying to complete an online self-paced course over the period of 4 months. Prospects will be provided time to study and complete lab assignments with the support from the NSH MDR Educator and Staff Developer ensuring trainees achieve the knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the program competencies. This program will be aligned with a transition to practice approach, with blended clinical and study time that will support the trainees in challenging the MDRT certification. Employees accepted into the program will also be scheduled for regular periods of orientation in the MDRA with the purpose of providing further support in transitioning to this specialized area.
While enrolled in the MDR technician course, you will be hired and compensated as a MDR Technician-in-Training. Upon successful completion of the program exam you will transition and be compensated as a MDR Technician.
Successful applicants will agree to complete the program and continue working for a minimum of 12 months as a MDR Technician in the assigned unit and will be required to sign a 1-year Return of Service Agreement.
