Responsibilities

The Extended Care Paramedic (ECP) exists to enhance primary care accessibility and capacity by providing specialised acute care expertise within our multidisciplinary team. This role addresses the growing demand for same-day urgent care while reducing pressure on primary care resources and improving patient flow through the practice.
The position serves as a bridge between emergency care expertise and primary care delivery, utilising advanced paramedic skills to manage acute presentations that would otherwise require GP intervention or emergency department visits. By operating under established standing orders and/or clinician direction and delegation, the ECP extends our clinical capacity while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care quality.
The role is designed to optimise patient outcomes through timely intervention, reduce healthcare system burden through appropriate care delivery in the primary care setting, and support practice sustainability by creating efficient care pathways for urgent presentations.
