This is a two-year term position located in Lake County, Painesville, Ohio.
The Ohio State University Extension Educator will work collaboratively with county, center, areas and state teams of Ohio State University (OSU) Extension professionals and with local agency leaders and volunteers to provide leadership for the Community Development programming targeted to local and area needs. The educator will work closely with the Lake County Solid Waste District to ensure the changing educational needs of the county are being met. The educator will design, implement, and teach STEM based curriculum for school students and public adult groups to meet the goals of the Lake County Solid Waste District. The educator will also develop adult programming and work with libraries and senior centers to bring programs based on reduce and reuse concepts. The educator will attend any special collection events held by the Solid Waste District to provide educational information to the public and to keep and report collection statistics. The Educator may be required to replicate and adhere to existing programs that meet the needs of their local community and responsible for designing new resources with a local focus in their programming and develop curriculum that supports these programs. The educator will develop with Solid Waste Management an annual survey for all county communities regarding their recycling efforts and analyze data for reporting to the Lake County Solid Waste District for their annual EPA reporting. The educator will develop local opportunities and partnerships, in the county to further develop the Community Development program through marketing and education that support the achievement of the program goals. The Educator will evaluate educational programs and dissemination methods, as well as utilize existing evaluation instruments to evaluate the teaching effectiveness, program quality and results of local programs. The Educator will hold leadership roles in county, multi-county, and/or state Extension teams to further the overall mission, vision and values of Ohio State University Extension, and Community Development. The Extension Educator will engage in professional development activities that lead to the development of specialty areas in Community Development and participate in appropriate in-service opportunities.
