The Key Purpose of this role is to ensure consistent, high-quality barley production in the Northern region by supporting farmers to meet yield, quality, and supply requirements aligned with the company’s sourcing strategy. Key Roles and Responsibilities: Ensure timely mobilization, recruitment, and registration of barley farmers within the assigned region Ensure that land preparation, planting, weeding, and harvesting activities are carried out according to recommended agronomic practices Ensure implementation of soil fertility management, moisture conservation, and crop rotation practices Ensure that only certified barley seed supplied by TBL is planted at the correct seed rate Identify and verify the acreage and corresponding input requirements for the assigned area Ensure proper and timely application of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides at recommended rates Monitor crop performance throughout the growth cycle and provide ongoing technical support Identify pests, diseases, and other abnormalities and advise farmers on timely corrective actions Promote adoption of mechanization such as planters, threshers, and harvesting equipment Disseminate improved farming technologies and agronomic practices to farmers Assist in the recovery of input costs advanced to farmers Coach farmers to manage farming operations as sustainable and profitable businesses Maintain accurate records of farmer data, input distribution, planted acreage, and crop yields Prepare and submit monthly reports, including sustainability and production metrics Learn to use digital tools for accurate reporting for farmer agronomic and non-agronomic data Key Attributes and Competencies: Supervisory Skills Negotiation Skills Interpersonal Skills Decision Making and Advisory Skills Strong Team player Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Agronomy or related field Minimum 2 years’ experience in agronomy or extension services Experience working with Barley is an added advantage Experience working with commercial and smallholder farmers Knowledge of barley production systems is an added advantage Valid driver’s license Fluency in English (Swahili is highly advantageous) Additional Information: Band: IX ABInBev is an equal opportunity employer and all appointments will be made in line with ABInBev employment equity plan and talent requirements.
