Job Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • The incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties.

Social Services Support.

  • Assists the shelter case workers in developing and coordinating the delivery of designated programs; will be responsible for clients/residents, and Participates in hiring, orientating, training and evaluating; schedules staff in accordance with government contracts and residential standards’ may respond to and resolve complaints.
  • Ensures the implementation of and may participate in the provision of the case management system including intake, support, referral, networking and other direct services to clients/residents, this includes appropriate use of rehabilitative and disciplinary measures.
  • Establishes and maintains proper records and files for each program, writes progress and in-depth reports and provides information on the outcomes of the program (s) and the progress of each client/resident.
  • Liaises with community resources and encourage community involvement in programs.
  • Monitors and ensures staff safety practices in compliance with health and safety standards, and prepares, submits and acts on incident reports; identifies practice safety measures to the supervisor based on needs and concerns.
  • Participates in or delegates the conduct of physical searches according to policy; ensures documentation of searches and results in log book.
  • Ensures that staff maintains the security and upkeep of the building and grounds.
  • Provides statistical and evaluative information to management levels when required.
  • May provide back-up support to and or assume functions at front desk area or other program areas as needed.
  • On call while shelter is open
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
    Alternative combination of education and Experience may be considered.

Education, Qualifications and Certifications:

  • Completion of high school is required.

CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training or willingness to complete once hired.

Experience and Knowledge:

  • The incumbent must have up to one year of related experience.

Skills and Capabilities:

  • Maintain and promote a positive image of The Salvation Army by providing a high caliber of services and dealing with others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.85 to $20.64 with a maximum of $24.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
