We’re looking for a second shift Extrusion Operator who takes pride in their work and understands the value of teamwork on the floor. The Extrusion Operator will assist the Extrusion Tech in the start-up and operation of the sheet extrusion line. The Extrusion Operator is the primary responsible party for line material handling of resin, color, regrind, and finished sheet. In addition, the Extrusion Operator will be able to communicate quality issues, complete daily required documentation, report machine and tool malfunctions and ensure good production of quality sheet. This is a full time, hourly position that performs work under the Extrusion Tech with final approval by the Shift Team Lead This position is eligible for up to a $2,000 sign-on bonus and up to a 15% pre-tax profit share paid quarterly—because when the team succeeds, everyone shares in the results. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities Help start-up line. Maintain raw material flow to the line: color, resin, regrind Assist Extrusion Tech as necessary with process/die changes. Provide break relief for the Tech and Stacker Act as back-up for Tech and Stacker for vacations/call-ins Understand, operate, and adjust blending systems With the Tech, follow the production schedule and provide smooth transition at change-overs Verify packaging is in compliance with product specifications. Assist the Stacker as needed and help maintain good packing of the sheet, legible packaging labels, and neat records. Ensure that sheets are properly labeled as to thickness, size and color. Maintain gauge, set knives/shear, and identify cold and hot sheets in the extrusion process. Identify defective products in the extrusion process and follow the QC procedure for non-conforming sheets. Perform all quality inspections with accuracy. Measure, weigh or count finished extruded sheet or materials. Move materials or extruded sheet between work areas. Complete daily reports and other production documentation as required. Maintain an effective working relationship with all department employees. Maintain a neat and orderly work area at all times. Use all required safety supplies and procedures at all items. Perform orientation tests. Operate forklift. Minimum Level of Education/Training Required High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Basic reading, writing and math skills required. Knowledge in plastics and extrusion preferred. Ability to use and read calipers, tape measure, micrometer and velocity gauge.
