The Extrusion Pelletizer/Grinder Operator is responsible for grinding scrap from the extrusion process, monitoring the pelletizing processes while producing a variety of pellets from fluff as per order specification reporting any machinery inconsistencies to the Supervisor, Shift Lead and/or Manager. This role ensures equipment is functioning correctly and complies with safety and quality standards. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Set up and start up grinders or pelletizers. Load material and make adjustments as needed. Support extrusion operations including stringing the line, doffing rolls, and grinding scrap. Record and monitor scrap grinding operations and line settings to react quickly. Ensure quality of the product by use of calipers, scales, micrometers and/or other measurement devices or equipment. Prepare and complete daily documentation including logs, tracking reports, and computer data entry. Identify and report machinery issues to the Lead Operator, Supervisor, or Manager; communicate repair needs to maintenance. Maintain cleanliness of machines, floors, and waste in assigned area. Operate forklift to move, stage, and retrieve raw materials; ensure smooth shift transitions by preparing materials for the next shift. Use PeopleSoft to report production, generate labels, and record product consumption. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in cross-training for various extrusion processing equipment including blending systems, vacuum systems, screen changers, extruder controls, and winders. Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Ability to read, write, and perform basic math in English. Proficient in using measurement tools. Capable of performing a sequence of operations with standard practices and making decisions related to quality, setup, and tolerances. Forklift certification required. Must be available to work 12-hour shifts. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Vision correctable to 20/20. Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. from floor to waist height. Frequent bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods (majority of 12-hour shift). Use of utility knives in accordance with safety regulations. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work environment has good lighting but may be hot in summer and cold in winter. Required PPE includes earplugs, eye protection, steel-toed shoes, and hairnets.
