Scope: Early Years & Primary School Reporting to: Director of Multilingual and Intercultural Learning Secondary Reporting: Heads of Early Years and Primary Role Overview The Early Years & Primary PYP Spanish Acquisition Teacher plays a key role in nurturing multilingualism, international-mindedness, and a love of learning. The successful candidate will be an engaging educator with strong interpersonal skills, committed to creating a supportive environment that values diversity, student voice, and the ISL Qatar values of belonging, integrity, grit, and kindness. They will work collaboratively with teachers, students, and families to support language acquisition and contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's degree in education or a related field. Recognised teaching qualification suitable for the role. Experience teaching Spanish Acquisition within the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP). Experience working with diverse learners in an international school setting (preferred). Knowledge, Skills & Attributes Alignment with the ISL Qatar values of belonging, integrity, grit and kindness. excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish Knowledge of current research on how students learn and the ability to motivate high school students. Ability to engage and motivate students through differentiated, student-centered instruction Capable to support student needs in learning and pastoral matters. Skill in Understanding by Design (UbD) and Assessment for Learning (AfL) Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a positive team environment Commitment to ongoing professional learning Strong time-management skills and professional reliability. Responsibilities Teaching & Learning Deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate Spanish Acquisition lessons aligned with the PYP. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. -Use technology and digital platforms (e.g., Toddle, Microsoft Teams) to enhance learning and communication. Curriculum & Assessment Contribute to the ongoing development and refinement of the PYP Spanish Acquisition curriculum. Support the implementation of Understanding by Design and Assessment for Learning practices. Assist the school in meeting programme requirements for NEASC and the IB. Collaboration & Professional Growth Participate in professional development, team meetings, and staff training. Foster strong collaborative relationships across grade levels and departments. Contribute to a positive team spirit and environment of mutual respect. Community & Contribution Engage with families to support student learning and wellbeing. Contribute to community service, global citizenship initiatives, and whole‑school events. Participate in the school’s extracurricular activities programme. Represent and uphold the professional standards of the teaching body.
