Are you a compassionate, patient and experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with complex special educational needs (SEN)?
An Outstanding primary academy in Haringey is seeking a dedicated EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant to join their inclusive and nurturing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of young learners, working closely with children with autism (ASD), non-verbal communication needs and behavioural difficulties, as well as sensory processing challenges and global developmental delay.

Responsibilities

In this full-time role, you will:

  • Work closely with individual pupils and small groups within Nursery and Reception, providing tailored interventions and daily support to children with autism, non-verbal communication needs and behavioural difficulties.
  • Implement strategies to help pupils manage sensory sensitivities, transitions and emotional regulation.
  • Support the class teacher and SENCO in delivering personalised learning plans and EHCP targets.
  • Use specialist SEN strategies and tools, such as PECs, Makaton, visual timetables and sensory circuits, to promote engagement and communication.
  • Contribute to EYFS observations and progress tracking, feeding back to the team and parents on children’s development.
  • Foster social skills, independence and confidence through structured routines and play-based activities.
  • Work collaboratively with therapists and external specialists to embed therapeutic strategies in the classroom.
