Pratt & Whitney (P & W) Military Engines F135 Fleet Operations is seeking a Field Service Engineer to represent the P & W Team at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA. This position operates in a high-visibility and team-oriented environment at this F-35B/F-35C Marine Corps operational site.
As an FSE, you will provide support for F-35B/F-35C/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine, aircraft, and personnel from the Marine Air Group (MAG) and various squadrons.
This position at this US Marine Corps location will work closely with P & W Customer Engineering, MAG-11 leadership, Marine Fighter-Attack Squadron (VMFA)-314 leadership, Marine Fighter-Attack Training Squadron (VMFAT)-502 leadership and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-11 Departments in troubleshooting and resolution of emerging customer issues and maintain flexibility to resolve constantly changing customer priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE:

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred in an engineering or related technical field, experience in lieu of a degree will be accepted if the candidate has 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in engine/aircraft maintenance, logistics, and logistics support is desired. This includes supply chain management and Support Equipment management.
  • Candidate must possess a US Govt. Secret Clearance or have the ability to secure one for position requirements. Candidates that have had a clearance that has recently lapsed (not more than 2 years), may apply for consideration.
  • Must be U.S. Citizen due to government contracts

QUALIFICATIONS WE PREFER:

  • Experience with the F135 engine and associated programs to include Autonomic Logistics Information System (ALIS)/OBPHM
  • Knowledge of turbine engine theory and operation
  • Familiarity of USMC aviation operations/structure
  • Proficiency in MS Office products, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Support F-35B/F-35C/F135 operations to include systems, tooling, material, and processes. The FSE will have hands-on interaction with the engine (software and hardware), aircraft, and squadron personnel.
  • Ensure comprehensive reporting on support activities including aircraft and engine status, flight reports, operational data, engine configuration status and parts consumption.
  • Work closely with internal P&W teams (Customer Support Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Center, ALIS teams to assist Marine Fighter-Attack Squadron (VMFA)-311, (VMFA)-314, (VMFAT)-502, and Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS)-11 Supply Department in troubleshooting and resolution of emerging customer issues and maintain flexibility to resolve constantly changing customer priorities.
  • Use self-initiative and judgment to identify problems, conduct investigations to determine root cause, and coordinate solutions between P&W, Rolls-Royce, the Joint Strike Fighter Program Office, and Lockheed Martin. Representative FSE will be responsible for coordinating field issues with P&W Site Manager, Engineering, and Logistics Program Management.
  • Comply with Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) requirements and participate in Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) initiatives.
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time to support customer deployments to contested areas. Domestic and International Travel, as well as Shipboard Operations are required and part of the team concept. Must have the ability to rotate first and second shift schedules as required to meet customer support and team objectives.
