JOB OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, the Fabrication Shop Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of the fabrication department. This role ensures that quality standards, production goals, and project deadlines are consistently met while maintaining a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment. Key responsibilities include supervising and training shop employees in fabrication methods, safety protocols, and company policies, as well as identifying and addressing operational or safety issues. The Foreman will also contribute to budgeting, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Strong expertise in fabrication processes, blueprint and schematic reading, and team leadership is essential for success in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of college/vocational or technical training
  • Minimum 10 year’s supervisor experience in a fabrication environment
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and build solid working relationships
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret work orders/plans/assignments and programs, goals, objectives, policies, procedures, etc.
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills
  • Must have the ability to handle all matters in a confidential and professional manner

SKILLS:

  • Computer skills are required for this role, working knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook will be necessary.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading and understanding schematics.
  • Strong mechanical skills with experience using hand tools and machinery.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to fabrication tasks.
  • Knowledge in Welding Processes SMAW, FCAW, MCAW, GMAW, AND GTAW.
  • Knowledge of plasma cutting techniques and equipment operation.
  • Experience with rigging practices for safe handling of materials.
  • Organized and pro active problem solving skills
  • Ability to build structures according to specifications while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Forklift operation experience is preferred for material handling tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of shop personnel to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality output, and adherence to production schedules.
  • Train, coach, and mentor employees in job duties, fabrication best practices, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with standards related to cost control, waste reduction, quality assurance, and on-time project delivery.
  • Interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and schematics to guide the fabrication process and ensure accuracy.
  • Plan, create, and maintain production requirements, schedules, and related documentation.
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of fabrication equipment including hand tools, plasma cutters, and rigging tools.
  • Conduct regular inspections to verify quality of workmanship and enforce safety standards in compliance with company policies.
  • Proactively identify, investigate, correct, and document environmental or safety hazards.
  • Requisition and manage inventory of materials, tools, and supplies to support ongoing projects.
  • Resolve work-related issues and recommend improvements to enhance productivity and product quality.
  • Coordinate shop maintenance and repair activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Provide input for production planning and resource allocation to meet project objectives.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews and recommend personnel actions such as hiring, promotions, or disciplinary measures.
  • Prepare production and performance reports as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of the fabrication department.
