Description ABOUT THE JOB: Opportunity to work in a fast passed, dynamic, architectural fabrication company. The Machining/Fabrication Supervisor’s responsibility is to lead and develop a team of machine operators and fabricators, maintain and develop work standards, while ensuring quality of work is met. Candidate must be a motivated self-starter and comfortable with taking ownership of processes and procedures within their department. This position is ideal for an individual who is looking for advancement from a cell or team leader position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide team with direction, priorities, focus and boundaries. Develop cooperation and teamwork while leading a diverse group of people, working towards solutions which balance business, customer, and associate needs. This includes an ability to work with others easily, establishing a climate of trust, confidence, and mutual respect. Develop and prioritizes departmental schedules and work with the Plant Manager on manpower requirements. Encourage communication and feedback amongst work group. Assist in maintaining an effective operating department by controlling activity within prescribed quality standards, production levels, and cost levels, while keeping a focus on safety and manufacturing objectives. In conjunction with the Plant Manager, develop process improvements, changes in equipment, tooling or manufacturing processes. Maintain required information and records necessary for efficient operations and controls. Maintain production standards in areas of responsibility. Promotes safe work habits of subordinates and compliance with safety rules in work areas. Maintains and clean and orderly work environment. Interact with other areas in the company to accomplish timely workflow. Perform the job with minimal supervision. Perform other duties and/or tasks as assigned. Requirements EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years solid supervisory experience in a Machine shop facility. 3-5 years' experience in a fabrication department (architectural applications). Experience with welding, brake presses, waterjets and punch presses. Experience in G-Code programming. Hurco VMC experience a plus. Understanding of calculating stretch-out's on bend panel applications. Job Shop CNC machine setup experience. Previous experience implementing Lean Manufacturing Projects. Effective written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to interact and interface with production personnel as well as management. Familiarity with a multi-departmental manufacturing environment. Union experience within a supervisory role a plus. Knowledge of production planning. Independent worker (must be able to assign and complete assignments independently). High School Diploma or equivalent. Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Strong mechanical aptitude. Fluent in use of Microsoft applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word and use of production software application Job Type: Full-time Benefits: 401(k) 401(k) matching Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Shift: 10 hour shift, Monday - Thursday, 6am - 4:30pm.
