REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in steel fabrication (preferably bespoke or heavy industry)
• Minimum 5 years in an estimating, costing, or supervisory role within a fabrication/manufacturing environment
• Strong technical knowledge of steel fabrication processes (cutting, welding, forming, profiling, finishing)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• High level of attention to detail and cost awareness
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Confident in customer-facing discussions and problem-solving

  Pay: £38,500.00-£46,000.00 per year

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Fabrication Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate quotations and cost breakdowns for bespoke steel fabrication projects. You’ll work closely with our draughting, production, and sales teams to ensure our pricing is competitive, realistic, and aligned with project requirements. You’ll also build strong relationships with new and existing customers, often working directly with them to understand what they need — and how we can best deliver it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates
• Liaising with internal teams (sales, draughting, production) to align quotes with delivery capability
• Preparing detailed breakdowns including material, labour, cutting, welding, and finishing
• Managing customer enquiries and producing timely quotations
• Helping to improve and streamline internal estimating processes
• Supporting ongoing project planning, purchasing, and pricing adjustments
• Visiting customer sites occasionally to assess bespoke fabrication requirements
