POSITION SUMMARY:

The Fabricator is the lead technician in the shop, responsible for preparing and customizing overhead door products for delivery to resellers. This includes cutting and assembling residential and commercial-grade door components, installing hardware and accessories, and operating fabrication equipment such as saws and CNC machines. The Fabricator ensures that all products meet quality standards and specifications, while also providing direction and oversight to shop Labourers.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a fabrication, millwork, or overhead door manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with power tools, hand tools, and CNC equipment.
  • Previous experience reading technical drawings and interpreting work orders.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead others in a production setting.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and stand for extended periods in a warehouse/shop environment.
  • Forklift certification an asset (or willingness to obtain).
  • Knowledge of commercial or residential overhead door systems is a strong asset.
  • Attention to detail and precision.
  • Reliable and safety conscious.

Responsibilities
  • Lead daily fabrication activities in the shop, including assigning tasks to Labourers and ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Review work orders and customer specifications to select appropriate door inventory for customization.
  • Cut door sections to custom lengths and install required components (end caps, tracks, hinges, rollers, weather seals, etc.).
  • Operate the CNC machine to cut accurate openings in door panels for window inserts and other custom features.
  • Assemble and package completed orders for shipment or pickup, ensuring accuracy and quality control.
  • Maintain clean and organized workstations and monitor equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Perform regular equipment checks and coordinate minor maintenance or troubleshooting as needed.
  • Collaborate with Distribution Center Coordinator and Sales to meet deadlines and accommodate custom order requests.
  • Train and guide new shop employees as assigned.
