EDUCATION AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Business/ Social Work and/or a related discipline and/or the equivalent of education, training, experience and certification;
  • knowledge of issue and challenges faced by the project’s priority groups: Aboriginal, Persons with Disabilities, Women, and Immigrants and Newcomers; and
  • knowledge of community resources in Metro Vancouver that help to address the diverse needs of targeted populations.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • fluent in English, second language preferred;
  • strong marketing and promotional skills;
  • strong ability to work with minimum supervision
  • strong computer and analytical skills coupled with high degree of accuracy;
  • excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff and stakeholders;
  • ability to work with diverse individuals with complex needs;
  • able to accomplish tasks with deadlines & handle stress and pressure; and
  • willing to take initiative, action & results-oriented, flexible and dedicated to quality work.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • a Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle would be an asset; and
  • clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector).

Responsibilities
  • recruit and assess potential participants; make referrals to project partners or other service providers as appropriate;
  • support project staff to liaise with employers and industry representatives to explore; potential employment opportunities for participants and adopt the Skills for Success Model;
  • guide and support participants with career planning, skills development, and wrap around services using a case management approach;
  • facilitate a variety of workshop topics, including career exploration, job search and employment maintenance skills and Skills for Success;
  • support participants with refining job search tools, networking, interview skills, resume and cover letter writing, etc;
  • coach participants to move through all components of the program and achieve mutually agreed upon goals; and
  • perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
