POSITION SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of district leadership, The Facilities and Capital Projects Manager will ensure a high degree of operational facilities and capital projects success at the campus and district level across all BTCSI schools. See “Essential Functions” below for a comprehensive breakdown of responsibilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:

  • Required HS Diploma or equivalent with bachelor’s degree in relevant field a plus.
  • Five years of Facilities Management experience or roles that provided skill development in supervision, operations, facilities, and/or project management; preferably in a multi-location organization or school setting. Facilities Management or Project Management certification a plus.
  • Requires valid driver’s license. This position will be traveling to our schools.
  • Requires broad knowledge of facility systems and management.
  • Knowledge of forecasting capital expenditures and prioritizing capital projects.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws as well as policies and requirements as they relate to students, staff and the school system.
  • Working knowledge of Fire, Life Safety, OSHA and ADA rules and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Power Point, and other computer skills required.

Responsibilities

FACILITIES SUPPORT/MANAGEMENT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (60%):

  • Identifies, develops, and updates facilitates maintenance programs and initiatives which improve the operational readiness, safety, and financial position of the school system.
  • Plans and coordinates facility staff education and training programs to increase maintenance and operational efficiency across network. Programs include but are not limited to: HVAC, IAQ, fire systems, vertical transportation, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing equipment, finishes, surfaces, structure, building envelope, grounds, and landscaping.
  • Audits campus-level maintenance performance, including evaluating the consistency and effectiveness of campus PM programs to ensure good condition of infrastructures and that all location facilities are safe and well-functioning.
  • Ensure property inspections are completed and documented as required, and that all locations remain compliant with OSHA and other governmental regulations.
  • Support warranty tracking and scheduling in conjunction with campus and Growth teams.
  • Support preparation of quarterly updates for district leadership.
  • Support campus Facilities Coordinators/Managers including planning scope of work, procurement of services, and continued evaluation of contractor performance.
  • Work with and support the Project Mgmt. Office (PMO) and campus facilities teams on all maintenance, repair, and capital projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

CAPITAL PROJECTS MANAGEMENT ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (40%)

  • Performs annual/as needed site inspections to determine the need for facility capital improvements and/or renovations at all district sites.
  • Assist in preparing annual maintenance budget and annual and forecasted 3-5 year capital expenditure budgets. Maintains a regular cadence of projections, while periodically reviewing campus positions.
  • Tracks and coordinates the scheduling and funding of capital projects in conjunction with the Project Management Office (PMO).
  • Works with and supports the PMO and campus facilities teams on all maintenance, repair, and capital projects.
  • Assist in the review of contracts for compliance for all contractors and third-party vendors. Maintain and develop vendor relationships.
