Description The Facilities Assistant (Housekeeping) helps keep One80 Place clean, safe, and running smoothly. You’ll work with our Operations Team to take care of the shelter and public areas so that clients and staff have a comfortable environment. STATUS: Full Time, Non-Exempt LOCATION: 35 Walnut Street (downtown Charleston) SCHEDULE: 8 hours/day, Wednesday through Sunday PAY: $23/hour SPECIFIC DUTIES: Responsible for cleaning shelter dorm rooms, public areas, offices, etc. to organizational standards Responsible for laundering clients bed and bath linens and clients personal laundry Responsible for alerting Facilities Team of any maintenance or repair needs via an online portal Interacting with clients in a professional manner while maintaining professional boundaries Other duties as assigned Requirements SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: At least 2 years of experience in housekeeping or a similar job Basic knowledge of tools and equipment (commercial washer/dryer, vacuum, floor scrubber, cleaning chemicals, PPE, etc.) Able to handle different tasks and switch priorities when needed. Good time management and ability to work independently or with a team Positive attitude and respect for people experiencing homelessness Preference given to applicants with a hospitality or communal living housekeeping experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sound mental reasoning Sound organizational and time management abilities Good verbal and written communication skills Corrective vision and hearing to normal range Ability to move between service locations and stand on feet for 90% of shift Ability to lift 40 pounds and use a handtruck
Responsibilities
The Facilities Assistant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety in the shelter and public areas. This includes cleaning dorm rooms, laundering linens, and reporting maintenance needs.
