Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Facilities Assistant is a key player in maintaining and supporting the day-to-day operations of buildings and facilities. Working under the guidance of the Facilities & Maintenance Manager (FM), the Facilities Assistant (FA) handles a wide range of tasks that ensure everything runs smoothly. From managing basic maintenance duties to overseeing the setup of rooms and equipment, the FA plays an essential role within the maintenance team.
This is a hands-on role that combines strong technical skills, high craftsmanship standards, and strong time and task management.
The role demands initiative, professionalism, and pride in both work and environment. The FA is expected to be a visible, productive team member who models efficiency, punctuality, and tidy work practices while delivering projects to a high standard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Maintain grounds to required standards.
· Assist with and perform routine Health & Safety checks.
· Carry out basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and general maintenance tasks to specified safety and quality standards.
· Support and prepare for seasonal installations, events, and stage/sound setup requirements.
· Inspect, repair, and maintain equipment and machinery within the park
· Complete scheduled maintenance tasks.
· Perform preventative maintenance and identify when items require upgrading or replacement.
· Provide customer service as needed.
· Liaise with contractors to monitor project completion and safe work practices.
· Work alongside the FM Manager to implement daily, monthly, and annual planned maintenance schedules.
· Respond to reactive maintenance requests from the wider team.
· Undertake development works and builds in line with Repairs & Maintenance Projects and Capital Expenditure Projects.
· Contribute to a positive work environment and support teamwork via staff training and enrichment programmes aligned with core OFP values.
· Ensure day-to-day duties comply with relevant Health and Safety Policies.
· Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment.
· Install equipment and appliances as directed.
· Assist with event setups.
· Report issues to the Facilities Manager or Duty Manager.
· Respond to repair and maintenance requests promptly.
· Load and unload equipment and tools into work vehicles when required.
· Follow written and verbal instructions from management.
· Support housekeeping standards in back of house areas and storage areas.
· Collaborate with the maintenance team and external contractors as necessary.
· Refer to manuals, blueprints, and other technical documents as needed.
· Operate equipment, including power, hand, electric, and plumbing tools.
· Meet physical requirements such as standing, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and lifting.
· Adhere to zoonosis protocols when working in animal areas.
· Communicate effectively.
· Work collaboratively with maintenance personnel and contractors.
