Your role and responsibilities As a Facilities Assistant, you’ll play a key role in the day-to-day operations of the library, ensuring it remains a safe, clean, and functional space for all users. On a typical day, you might: * carry out regular security patrols within and around the building * maintain security, acting as key holder, and assisting with public order, taking appropriate action to ensure safety of users and staff * support groups and organisations using rooms for hire * maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation * perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks * move goods, stock, and furniture as needed * assist staff with activities and services throughout the building * be customer-orientated and achieve good customer relations. This is a physically active role that involves bending and lifting. Hours to be worked are: * Week 1: Monday 2.00 pm - 6.30 pm, Wednesday 2.00 pm - 6.30 pm, Friday 2.00 pm - 7.00 pm. * Week 2: Tuesday 7.00 pm - 7.30 pm and Thursday 2.00 pm - 6.30 pm. You will need We’re looking for someone who is: * a visible and proactive presence in the building * confident in dealing with difficult or disruptive individuals * skilled in basic DIY and maintenance tasks * familiar with health and safety requirements * able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people * comfortable using IT systems including email and online forms.
