Job Title: Facilities Caretaker
Location: SE15
Pay Rate: £15.38 per hour
Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday - 1 in 4 week required to be on call = £100 for being on standby + overtime for hours required on site.
Start Date: ASAP

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience in general building fabric maintenance.
  • Competence in carpentry, decorating, basic repairs, and minor installations.
  • Understanding of statutory compliance responsibilities (e.g. L8, fire doors).
  • Ability to work unsupervised and manage contractors on site.
  • DBS Check.
  • Good communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Basic IT literacy for completing documentation.
  • Physically fit and able to undertake manual tasks (e.g. lifting/moving furniture).

Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To undertake or oversee all general fabric maintenance, assist with statutory compliance tasks, and carry out porterage duties, ensuring a safe, efficient, and customer-focused working environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out general fabric works including:
    Carpentry repairs
    Painting and decorating
    Replacing ceiling tiles

Laying carpet tiles

  • Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive tasks in line with SLAs, KPIs and CPIs.
  • Manage and supervise external contractors ensuring RAMS are submitted and relevant permits issued.
  • Order materials and certify delivery; maintain stock levels, engineer reports and maintenance records.
  • Create and maintain compliance logbooks and present documentation for audits.
  • Provide basic costings, site measurements and administrative support when requested.
  • Liaise professionally with client representatives and resolve issues promptly.
  • Respond to Helpdesk tasks within scheduled timeframes and complete accurate work records.
  • Cover for team members during absence, leave, or sickness as required.
  • Assist customers and colleagues in a positive, helpful manner.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health & safety requirements.
