Strathcona Resources Ltd. We are currently seeking a Facilities Engineer-in-Training (EIT) at our Lindbergh facility in the Cold Lake area. The Facilities EIT will work with their asset’s Facilities team to support and facilitate project planning & execution, drive technical requirements of projects and ensure code & regulatory compliance. The engineer will also assist Operations by providing technical support in areas of troubleshooting, risk analysis, process de-bottlenecking and optimization. The EIT will leverage their site-based role to communicate and report between the office and field stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
- Champion the Management of Change (MOC) process
- Provide technical support for day-to-day operations and maintenance activities
- Define process optimization opportunities and support integration of debottleneck projects within the facility
- Interface with third party engineering and construction contractors to ensure that design budget, and execution expectations are met
- Preparation of status reports and technical communications to asset stakeholder team
- Facilitation of various technical meetings (risk assessments, technical reviews, information sharing, and planning)
- Preparation of Design Basis Memorandums, Project Execution Plans, and other technical documents
- Participate in model reviews and process hazard assessments
- Review construction execution and safety plans
- Ensure compliance of engineering deliverables with project specifications and all applicable codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Ensure engineering contractors prepare all construction documents, and review for completeness and accuracy.
- Monitor and enforce the corporate Health, Safety, Environment, and Regulatory (HSER) requirements
- Liaise with the engineering contractor for timely resolution of requests for information, non-conformances, and preventative and corrective actions
- Assist in the development and execution, inclusive of monitoring and surveillance, of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
- Facilitate and participate in system walkdowns, and transfer of care, custody and control (handover)
- Provide technical support for commissioning and operations
- Budgeting, forecasting, and requesting funding for projects
Requirements:
- BSc in Engineering from an accredited university with a degree in either Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering
- Registration or eligibility as of May 2025 to be registered with APEGA as an engineer-in-training (EIT)
- Familiarity with steam-assisted-gravity-drainage (SAGD) considered an asset
- Previous work experience in the oil and gas industry (coop, internship, operations, etc.) considered an asset
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Works well independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to manage time and produce results while working under pressure and deadlines
Work Environment
- Field based role located at the Lindbergh operating facility within the SCR Cold Lake Business Unit.
- 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off)
